I’m a New York City author and journalist who covers business, media, tech, theater, and other cool things that shape our world.
I’m a senior editor at Fast Company, where I run the news desk. We focus on everything from small startups to Big Tech, the changing nature of work, internet culture, the latest Elon Musk controversy, and all the minutiae in between.
Before joining FastCo News, I was deputy media and culture editor of International Business Times, a theater critic for Newsweek, and managing editor of Show Business Weekly. My writing has also appeared in Wired, Vice News, Condé Nast Traveler, and elsewhere.
My debut memoir, Uneducated, will be published by Little, Brown and Company in spring 2023. The book is a highly personal map of our growing education divide that confronts the stigma of being degreeless in a 21st-century knowledge economy. It follows my clumsy and sometimes farcical attempts to assimilate as a high-school dropout in the pedigree-obsessed world of New York City media. I live on the Upper West Side with my wife and our cat, James Carter McPickles, who is officially on the lease.
